FOOD Crispy Cereal Treats (re-thought) These traditional "MOM" treats were sold this year in the food court of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. Interestingly they made the treats using various types of cereal: Captain Crunch; Fruit Loops; Coco Puffs; Rice Krispies; etc. and some had candy sprinkled on top. Invent your own!
Kellogg's original recipe for Rice Krispies Treats:
Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
4 cups of miniature marshmallows
or 1 Package (10 oz.- about 40) regular marshmallows
6 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies © cereal
Directions
1 in a large saucepan melt butter over low heat.
Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
Remove from heat.
2. Add Cerial. Stir until well-coated.
3. Using a buttered spatula or wax paper,
evenly press mixture into a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan
coated with cooking spray or buttered.
4. Cool & Cut into 2 inch squares.
Best if served the same day.
