FOOD
Green Drink
They are everywhere now!

One of the favorite drinks available at the local store are the Naked "Kale Blazer" drink. The company advertises the drink as "dark leafy goodness", the cost is about $4 for the small bottle. Below are three healthy green drink recipes to make at home:

1) Dr. Oz's "Glass of Fresh!"
Ingredients
  • Apples - 2 medium (3" dia)
  • Celery - 3 stalk, large (11"-12" long)
  • Cucumber - 1 cucumber (8-1/4")
  • Ginger Root - 1/2 thumb (1" dia)
  • Lemon (with rind) - 1/2 fruit (2-3/8" dia)
  • Lime (with rind) - 1 fruit (2" dia)
  • Parsley - 1 bunch
  • Spinach - 2 cup
Directions:
Juice all of the ingredients in a juicer. If it tastes a bit "earthy" just add an extra apple or two to sweeten it up. You can blend this recipe too, but peel the lemon, lime, and ginger.

2) Morning Smoothie
Ingredients / Directions:

- Fill the blender a quarter of the way with coconut water.
- Add some frozen berries (your choice)
- Add two hand-fulls of spinach or kale.
- Add a heaping spoonful of almond butter.
- Melt a heaping Tablespoon of coconut oil (in a cup, in the microwave for 30 seconds), add.
- BLEND then Taste
- if too "green" add apple juice to taste.

3) Joe Cross' Mean Green
This is from Joe Cross' "Fat Sick & Nearly Dead". Granny smith apples are recommended, but you can use your favorite variety.

Ingredients
  • Apples - 2 medium (3" dia)
  • Celery - 4 stalk, large (11"-12" long)
  • Cucumber - 1 cucumber (8-1/4")
  • Ginger Root - 1 thumb (1" dia)
  • Kale - 6 leaf (8-12")
  • Lemon - 1/2 fruit (2-3/8" dia)
Directions
JUICE in a juicer.

  1. The green supplement I am about to start with is a decent if not better substitute for those costly products. Green energy drinks comes at a reasonable price and is packed with benefits.
