Master Class / Preliminary Studies for Classical Paintings from the Met Museum NYC

ART

for Classical Paintings
FROM THE ARCHIVES OF THE
METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART

One of my favorite parts of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is the Gallery Hallway leading to the 2nd Floor Special Exhibition Spaces as you turn left off of the central Grand Staircase.

This extra wide corridor is always filled with great art, drawings, prints and early photographs from the deep archives of the Museum. It is said that 3/4s + of the museum's collection is stored in their archives and this hall gives space for these normally unseen works, allowing short term exhibits of these great artworks that do not merit a permanent place with-in the precious real estate of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Thank you Met Curators for sharing this ever changing exhibition of "gems of knowledge" offered up and where "beauty" is to be enjoyed for those lucky patrons who stop and soak it in, as they walk to their destination.
