British Street Artist "Banksy" anointed himself "Artist in Residence" of New York City's Streets for the month of October, 2013. Dodging the police and trying to be as elusive and mysterious as possible, here are some of his creative artworks, done by Banksy - "outside" - on the streets of Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

People ask why I want to have an exhibition in the streets, but have you been to an art gallery recently? They're full.

A fibreglass replica of Ronald McDonald having his shoes shined by a real live boy. The sculpture will visit the sidewalk outside a different McDonald's every lunchtime for a week. South Bronx.

Some people criticize me for using sources that are a bit low brow (this quote is from 'Gladiator') but you know what? "I'm just going to use that hostility to make me stronger, not weaker" as Kelly Rowland said on the X Factor.

then brought the artwork back to the same thrift-shop, 
putting the painting in the window as a part of the display. 
It will be auctioned off for charity - a one million dollar bid is expected.

As a part of his Art Residency, Banksy set up as a street vendor for one day only, selling his original works for $60 each. Each piece could be worth thousands if not tens-of-thousands.

This final piece, Banksy's take on the famous cloud-like bubble lettering of most graffiti, 
and this one actually floats.
An homage to the classic graffiti in the city that invented the current form.

Garden Salad

in less than a minute

Today making a mixed greens salad at home is as easy as opening a box of mixed greens from the grocery. Here is a good way to finish that salad off.

Make a vinaigrette with 1 part vinegar (I use rice vinegar) to 3 parts EV olive oil, add a pinch of salt, and 2 grinds of pepper, plus the squeeze (the juice) of 1/2 lemon (or a good squirt out of bottled lemon juice.) Mix into an emulsion. In a large salad bowl place the mixed greens and some of the vinaigrette, then toss. Transfer to salad plates and top in a teepee shape with shaves of Parmesan cheese, using a vegetable peeler (makes long strips.) Drizzle the salad with a little bit of balsamic vinegar and serve.
